Robo Falcon
Bidvest Steiner’s Robo Falcon is an autonomous robotic Peregrine Falcon that deters pigeons and pest birds from commercial premises using realistic movement, wing action, and authentic falcon calls.
Birds are a persistent problem for commercial properties across South Africa. Where conventional deterrents lose effectiveness over time as birds habituate to them, Bidvest Steiner’s Robo Falcon takes a fundamentally different approach, exploiting the deep-rooted, instinctive fear that pest birds have of the Peregrine Falcon, one of their most formidable natural predators.
The Robo Falcon is an autonomous robotic unit that mimics the appearance and behaviour of a live Peregrine Falcon with precision. It moves its head and wings and emits authentic falcon calls that signal a bird protecting its territory. To pest birds, this is indistinguishable from a real predator, triggering an instinctive avoidance response that keeps them away from the treated area without any physical contact, chemical treatment, or harm to wildlife.
How does Robo Falcon differ from a standard bird decoy?
A standard decoy is static, and birds typically habituate to it within a short period, rendering it ineffective. Robo Falcon combines realistic physical movement, head rotation and wing action, with authentic Peregrine Falcon vocalisations, creating a credible predator presence that triggers an instinctive, hard-wired avoidance response in pest birds. This response does not diminish in the way that habituation to static or noise-based deterrents does.
Is Robo Falcon safe for use near food processing or food storage environments?
Yes. Robo Falcon is entirely chemical-free and non-contact. It uses no toxins, sprays, or residues of any kind, making it suitable for deployment in and around food-sensitive environments where conventional pest control methods may be restricted.
How long does a Robo Falcon installation last, and what maintenance is required?
Robo Falcon units are weather-resistant and designed for long-term deployment with minimal servicing requirements. Our team will advise on installation, positioning, and any maintenance schedule at the time of assessment. For sites with complex bird pressure, Robo Falcon may be combined with additional deterrent measures to maximise coverage and effectiveness.
