Fly Treatment
Flies pose a significant health threat in food processing and manufacturing facilities, because of their mobility and filthy nature. As a result, there is a growing demand for more innovative solutions to combat flying insect pests. Bidvest Steiner has developed an effective integrated programme which has been proven to dramatically reduce flies in food processing environments.
The flies we see most often in South Africa are:
Common House Fly (Musca domestica)
Lesser House Fly (Fannia canicularis)
Blow and Bottle Flies (Family calliphoridae)
Common Fruit Fly (Drosophila melanogaster)
Drain Fly (Psychodidae)
A regular systematic inspection of the facility is conducted to identify the specific species of flying insect pests. We locate entry points, harbourages and breeding areas and identify sanitation conditions conducive to promoting flying insect activity.
All flying insect pest activities and sanitation defects are recorded on our monitoring and sighting log sheets.
